I have always been proud of the projects that I have delivered, from my early days as a chartered quantity surveyor, through to leading divisions of major infrastructure companies and then executive roles of major utilities running multi-year portfolios. The IPA provides the opportunity to work at an even greater level, on some of the largest, most complex and cutting-edge projects and programmes in the world, influencing both their design and execution.
From complex digital and transformation programmes to military, transport, energy, environment, housing, sport, culture, international, health and education, the scope is as diverse as the vision is ambitious, ‘nothing less than world-class delivery’. The government’s centre of excellence, the IPA, is the place where you can make a real difference and on a scale that other roles just cannot offer.
It was not the scale or prestige of the projects that attracted me to the IPA, it was their purpose and what they are there to achieve. Improving the lives of the citizens and interests of the UK provides unrivalled motivation and a sense of pride in what we do.

Delivered by the University of Oxford Saïd Business School, MPLA is an outstanding leadership programme that has received significant industry recognition and international acclaim. It focuses on major project leadership, technical understanding of major project delivery and commercial capability.
Orchestrating Major Projects (OMP)
Designed for Director Generals and Permanent Secretaries, OMP focuses on setting up the operating environment of major projects to enable project success. It’s designed to improve connections and understanding between different roles.
Government Projects Academy (GPA)
Coming soon will be a single, virtual and digital hub, enabling project delivery professionals across government to access standards, accreditation and training materials. It delivers a rigorous four-level framework for accrediting and developing your skills and provides a portable badge of competence in the form of a ‘licence to practice’.
